Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player won his first title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
